franken beetle 4x4 pt;3 (it's coming together)
this is a 1974 VW beetle shell with a hodgepodge mix of early and late body parts mixed together. The real kicker is the chassis is a 1955 CJ5 willys. I'm building what Volkswagen should a true 4x4 Volkswagen beetle that can be driven on the road or out in the woods.

this is a old rail buggy that I built 17 years ago. I used a 1965 Volkswagen beetle as the donor on the spare chassis. after the last 7/8 years it's been outside in the weather uncovered and the weather has taken toll on it. it's time to clean it up do some upgrades and bring it into the modern age. there's nothing like taking a dune buggy off-road trail riding in the woods are Old county road.

      I don't believe I made a video on building this truck. It's pretty much bolting the motor to the adapter if you can find one and then bolting the motor down to the truck like the nitro motor would have been mounted. But I will warn you now that a motor and ESC will have more torque than the original nitro motor. That said you will strip spur gears left and right. I sold my original model but I'm planning on buying another one and keeping it as a nitro, for nostalgia sake. Your hardest part of this project is to find that adapter. I started out with two and I finally found one of my original ones. If you can find them you found gold.

    • @massis32210
      @massis32210 4 місяці тому

      Out of curiosity does the clutch cable go straight to the arm, the reason I asked when I built mine I had a local VW shop go over it and they had a piece of tubing that had a slight bend to put preload on that arm. Something about the preload it has to have in order to engage the clutch properly. You might be able to rig up something to have a passenger reach back and engage the clutch lever for you and tests to see if that clutch is truly engaging properly.

    I didn’t even mount mine to the floor. Worked great

      Since I've made this video I've moved to my new shop and I definitely mounted mine to the floor. Once in awhile you will get a super thick side wall that you will need it bolted down to be able to break and to be able to remove the tire. Thanks for watching...

    Did I see an open relay under that black cover? One little gas leak and POOF! Thanks for the video! You may have just saved my motorcycle. :)

    I have always wanted to build a trike. The only problem is that I have never been on a motorcycle before. I plan to build it with my own imagination.

      With your own imagination you can build anything that you want. I'm in the process of building a slammed Astro van with a 5.7 V8 and a 5-speed manual trans. I would definitely tell you to get familiarize with motorcycles before hopping on a trike. Trikes definitely rod completely different than your average motorcycle. There's nothing out there stopping you from achieving your dreams. I appreciate it you watching my videos thank you so much.
